When was the last time you had to hire a tech expert for your small business? Chances are, you want some hotshot wiz kid to fill the spot to help take your business to the next level, right? Well, maybe not.
According to indeed.com, small business and technology are having a rough relationship; small businesses are having a tough time recruiting tech talent. A recent survey found that 84% were challenged with finding the right talent to hire. Also, in the survey, 71% of small business owners said that it was taking longer to find, recruit, and hire for tech roles. In fact, 88% say if they had access to tech talent on a regular basis, their company would be more innovative.
The survey also found that not having the right tech staff stunted revenue, slowed production, and increased stress among the staff. However, tech job seekers are looking for salaries to compensate a particular lifestyle with financial security that most small firms can’t provide.
Good news though, tech job seekers are realizing that the cost of living in tech hubs can be too high; they are slowly starting to realize that working in small business and technology can be rewarding. And there are plenty of techies that are job hunting and that are getting overlooked by the big firms. Be patient, you’ll find your diamond in the rough.
